Corel Linux 1.0 When Corel decided to throw its hat into the Linux distribution arena, its aim was to make the product more user-friendly. It has indeed succeeded in doing so, but at the cost of hardware compatibility. The installation is exceptionally easy compared to other Linux distributions. You boot off the CD-ROM or use the accompanying floppy disk. The setup begins with a nice graphical installation that eases even the complex task of creating partitions and choosing packages. Corel has obviously tried its best to make Linux look more like Windows 9x. It starts up with a logo screen and has KDE as the window manager, which gives a Windows-like feel. It includes Netscape Communicator, Corel WordPerfect and Adobe Acrobat Reader. |
